Roman Material
There
are two fragments of brick from the 1997.61 excavation that are worthy of
note. The fabric of these pieces are similar
to material found at the Apple Tree Farm kiln site, just outside York. The daub appears to be associated with the
Roman tile.
Medieval Material
Medieval
material is poorly represented. The few
fragments identified (ie. the ridge tile) may actually be Post medieval in date
Post Medieval Material
The
brick sample, judging by the measurements and appearance, is probably post
medieval in date.
Recommendations
The
site/s with the Roman tile are obviously of archaeological interest.
