Introduction

There are four small bags of material from the borehole samples.

Medieval material

Medieval roof tile, in the form of plain (peg or nib tile) and ridge or curved tile is present.  The ridge or curved tile may be as early as the 11th century.  The peg tile can date from 13th to 16th century.

There is one fragment of micaeous sandstone which may be roofing material

Discussion

This is a very small sample, but it should be retained in case further work is carried out at the site.
